Reanimated 4 - The Future of React Native Animations 🎉

Hey Reader,

No new video this week, but with Reanimated 4 officially released, I had to bring back my initially test of Reanimated 4 CSS Animations!

This video walks you through the new CSS Animations & Transitions feature, which seriously levels up how we animate in React Native. If you haven’t seen it yet (or need a refresher), now’s the perfect time.

And the ecosystem news? Still wild:

  • ✍️ A rich text editor built on TipTap, now in React Native
  • ⚡️ Precompiled React Native for iOS promises 10x faster builds
  • 🧱 Native tab bars are finally coming to Expo Router
  • 🔄 And of course, Reanimated 4 itself - with better New Arch support and a shiny new worklets package

As soon as I'm back from vacation I'll create a practical video on all the epic new features of Reanimated 4 🤝

Now catch it all below - and as always, keep building and keep shipping 💙

Happy Coding,
Simon ✌️

💫 Nebula Notes

  1. Rich text editor for React Native built on TipTap (Package)
This cool new package brings the TipTap editor to React Native by using Expo DOM components!
  2. Reanimated 4 — the Future of React Native Animations (Release)
It's finally here, and comes with great improvements like CSS Animations, a new worklets package and New Arch support.
  3. Precompiled React Native for iOS (Article)
Cutting compile times by 10x sounds almost too good to be true, but it's coming to React Native!
  4. Native Tabs coming to Expo Router (Tweet)
Finally the tab bar in your project will be real native tabs, a slight difference but it will be noticeable.

Hey Reader 🎉 This week is a bit special. I published two videos that are closely connected - one practical, one philosophical. The first is a full crash course on how I’d approach learning React Native today, in 2026 - especially in an AI-first world. The second is more opinionated: why traditional coding courses alone aren’t enough anymore… and what actually is. If you’re building, learning, or rethinking your path this year, these two belong together. Would love to hear your thoughts on...

Hey Reader 🎉 I’ve been in full dev mode lately - between refining Tiny Harvest, playing with AI agents, and watching the React Native ecosystem evolve, there’s a lot to talk about. In this week’s podcast, we cover: Why Gesture Handler v3 is awesome AI agents that literally control your app Animated component libraries that blew my mind And what’s next for Tiny Harvest now that it’s officially in Season mode 🌱 👉 Watch the video🎧 Listen to the Podcast ✨ Gesture Handler v3, AI Agents Everywhere,...
