React Native 0.84 Is Here - And TanStack Might Be Next

Hey Reader 🎉

This week feels like one of those “shift is happening” moments in the React Native ecosystem.

Hermes is evolving fast.
WebAssembly is coming.
And Tanner Linsley is teasing a new React Native framework

Let’s unpack it in this week’s podcast,👇

  • React Native 0.84 (Hermes V1 by default)
  • WebAssembly support in Hermes
  • The possibility of a new TanStack React Native framework

💫 Nebula Notes

  1. TanStack working on React Native Framework (Tweet)
Tanner Linsley hinted multiple times that something React Native related is coming from TanStack.
If true, this could seriously shake up the framework landscape.
  2. Cross-Platform Native Paste Handling (Package)
expo-paste-input brings proper native paste handling to React Native + Expo.
Small API, very practical, very useful.
  3. State of React 2025 Results (Survey)
If you love graphs, check out the results from the React Survey (Spoiler: React is doing great)
  4. WebAssembly Coming to Hermes (Article)
    This is big.
WASM support inside Hermes opens doors for performance-heavy logic, shared engines, and potentially new categories of tooling.

Hey Reader - Simon here 👋 Building a game alone sounds great in theory. No meetings. No dependencies. No compromises. Just you building exactly what you want. But after working on Tiny Harvest for a while now, I realized: It’s not just building a game. It’s building everything around it. 🎥 New Video: How Hard Is It To Run a Mobile Game Alone? In this week’s video I talk about what it’s actually like to run a mobile game solo. Not just the fun parts - but everything that comes with it. In this...

Hey Reader - Simon here 👋 last week I did something I almost never do: I didn't post. No video. No newsletter. Instead, I took a step back and just focused on building and thinking during my vacation. Honestly, it felt refreshing after years of content grinding. I still love doing this - but I want to improve the quality of my content for you in the future, and this week I got a new kind of video. 🎥 New Video: I Made $2,500 From My First Game Over the past weeks, my game Tiny Harvest started...

Hey Reader - Simon here 👋 Everyone seems to have an opinion about AI and coding right now. Some say it’s making developers worse.Others say you just need to fully embrace it. After spending the last months building apps and even a game mostly with AI, I think both sides are missing something. 🎥 New Video: Does AI make Developers dumb? I’ve been using AI heavily in my workflow - not just for small tasks, but to actually build real apps and systems. And at some point I noticed something: I...
