Hey Reader - Simon here ๐ Most React native devs spend their time thinking about mobile. iOS. Android. Maybe web. But recently I've been spending more time exploring a different platform that few devs consider: TV. And after turning an Expo app into a Fire TV app, I think it might be one of the mot interesting opportunities out there right now. ๐ฅ How to Build a Fire TV App with Expo and React NativeThis week I published a full walkthrough showing how to transform an existing Expo app into a Fire TV app using Amazonโs Vega OS. You'll learn to:
If youโre already building apps with React Native, targeting TV devices is one of the best choices you can make. ๐ Watch the full videoโ ๐ญ A few thoughts this weekThe more I use AI-assisted development, the more I realize that distribution matters. Not just where users find your app. But where you choose to build. Most developers compete in the exact same places:
Meanwhile there are platforms with millions of users that receive a fraction of the developer attention. TV apps are one example. I donโt know if TV will become a major part of my business. But I do know that exploring less crowded platforms has often led to the most interesting opportunities in my career. ๐ What Iโm buildingOn the Tiny Harvest side, this week has mostly been about stabilization after the Airport update and the new season start. Iโm currently working on:
The game recently got a lot of downloads on the App Store, not sure how and where Apple is pushing it - but I like it! Unfortunately, a few bugs showed up at exactly the wrong time, plus my database had an incident right at the season start ๐ So now itโs all about improving the experience before the next update is released. Iโm also working on a larger AI-powered voice notes app build where agentic coding is playing a huge role in the workflow - stay tuned! Thatโs it for this week - back to building. Have you ever considered building for TV devices, or are mobile and web enough already? See you next week, |

Hey Reader - Simon here ๐ many of you lately ask me the same question: "What AI tools do you actually use?" The honest answer is... It's not really about the tools. It's about the workflow. Over the last months I've slowly built a setup that lets me go from an idea to a shipped feature much faster than I ever did before. This week I wanted to show you exactly what that looks like. ๐ฅ How I Build Apps with AI in 2026 Instead of reviewing another AI tool, I walk through the complete workflow I...
Hey Reader - Simon here ๐ For a few weeks, I thought Tiny Harvest had finally found its new normal. Downloads were going up.Revenue was increasing.Everything seemed to be moving in the right direction. Then, almost overnight, it slowed down again. Nothing had changed about the game. Just the distribution. And that taught me one of the biggest lessons Iโve had as an indie developer... ๐ฅ My Mobile Game Made $5,000โฆ Then Everything Changed In this weekโs video I break down what happened after...
Hey Reader - Simon here ๐ A few years ago, building a mobile app like this would have taken me weeks. Not because the code was really difficult. But because there were so many moving pieces: Authentication. Payments. AI. Storage. APIs. This week I want to show you how you build serious React Native apps with AI, while still staying in control. ๐ฅ I Built an AI Voice Notes App with React Native (Mostly Using AI) In my new video, I built a complete AI-powered voice notes app using React Native....
