I finally got help with my mobile game

Hey Reader - Simon here 👋

It’s been a while.

For the first time in a long time, I basically took a month off from YouTube and this newsletter.

Summer holidays happened, I spent a lot of time with my family, tinkered on Tiny Harvest whenever I felt like it…

…and honestly, it was pretty nice.

But school is starting again, I’m slowly getting back into work, and there’s A LOT I want to build and share over the next months.

Starting with something that has changed quite a bit for Tiny Harvest.

🎥 I Finally Got Help With My Mobile Game

Tiny Harvest started as a solo project.

And for the most part, it still is.

But as the game grew, so did everything around it.

More players.
More feedback.
More ideas.
More things that need attention.

And at some point, doing everything myself stopped making sense.

So in this video I share how I finally got some help with the game, what that looks like behind the scenes, and what I’ve learned from slowly turning a tiny side project into something much bigger than I originally expected.

💭 A few thoughts this week

Something I noticed during the last month:

It’s surprisingly easy to confuse consistency with progress.

Publishing every week feels productive.

Shipping another feature feels productive.

Checking another thing off the list feels productive.

But taking some time away gave me a chance to think about what I actually want to spend my time on.

And I came back with more motivation to build Tiny Harvest AND create videos again than I had before the break.

Sometimes doing less for a while is probably the productive thing to do.

🛠 What I’m building

Now that summer holidays are over, things are slowly getting back to normal.

I’m currently:

  • working on some much bigger Tiny Harvest features 👀
  • planning and recording more YouTube content
  • trying to share more of the journey around building the game

And apparently I decided that wasn’t enough 😅

I also started a new (German) Instagram account where I’m sharing another big part of my life: endurance sports, training and everything around it.

And the timing is pretty good because…

I’m running the local Marathon next Sunday.

I’ve been training for a sub-3:30 finish for the last few months, so right now a suspicious amount of my brain is occupied by carbs, running pace and whether every tiny sensation in my legs means something is wrong.

After that, it’s properly back to building.

That’s it for this week.

It’s good to be back.

There’s a lot I want to build, experiment with and share over the next months - both with Tiny Harvest and here on the channel.

See you next week,
Simon

Hey Reader - Simon here 👋 in the past, I probably spent more time tweaking my development setup than I’d like to admit. Every now and then I’ll discover a new tool and think: “How did I build apps without this?” This week I wanted to share the tools that have genuinely become part of my daily workflow - not because they’re shiny, but because they actually save me time. 🎥 React Native Tools That Actually Save Time There are a lot of dev tools out there. Some are fun to try. Some disappear after...

Hey Reader - Simon here 👋 After a week on (hot!) Mallorca, I’m finally back at my desk with fresh motivation. One thing I always enjoy after taking a short break is looking at other people’s work. You notice small details again. The things that feel polished. The things that don’t. And that’s exactly what this week’s video is about. 🎥 I reviewed 3 Apps that were made with Ai Building apps has never been easier. Building a good app is still surprisingly hard. In this episode I reviewed three...

Hey Reader - Simon here 👋 many of you lately ask me the same question: "What AI tools do you actually use?" The honest answer is... It's not really about the tools. It's about the workflow. Over the last months I've slowly built a setup that lets me go from an idea to a shipped feature much faster than I ever did before. This week I wanted to show you exactly what that looks like. 🎥 How I Build Apps with AI in 2026 Instead of reviewing another AI tool, I walk through the complete workflow I...
