Reanimated 4 = CSS for React Native? 🤯

Hey Reader,

Reanimated 4 is finally stable - and you can finally use CSS for animations!

In this week’s video, I walk you through the major changes:

  • New CSS Animations & Transitions APIs
  • How they compare to the old useSharedValue approach
  • What to know about compatibility with the New Architecture
  • And the new Worklets package that changes how we write animations

Beyond that, we've got a big release from Maestro, a new Drawpad package, and I wrote up some React Native Performance Tips ⚡️

PS: Get ready for Expo SDK 54 - I'll update you on everything important next week!

Keep building & keep shipping.

Hey Reader 🎉 This week is a bit special. I published two videos that are closely connected - one practical, one philosophical. The first is a full crash course on how I’d approach learning React Native today, in 2026 - especially in an AI-first world. The second is more opinionated: why traditional coding courses alone aren’t enough anymore… and what actually is. If you’re building, learning, or rethinking your path this year, these two belong together. Would love to hear your thoughts on...
